The Oscar Micheaux Suite was presented by Prospect’s IGNITE Series, a concert initiative featuring new voices shaping tomorrow’s musical theater. It follows the life of the groundbreaking African American novelist, filmmaker, and relentless self-promoter Oscar Micheaux as he battles the racism of Hollywood to bring Black stories to the silver screen. This developmental concert presented new songs from a work-in-progress jazz musical, featuring a 6-piece jazz ensemble and a talented line-up of vocalists.
