Death for Five Voices
March 24-April 17, 2016
The Sheen Center Blackbox Theatre
Audiences explored the dark harmonies of Renaissance composer—and murderer—Carlo Gesualdo in the world premiere production of Death for Five Voices. This gripping new musical drama investigates the voices that lived within the notorious and groundbreaking composer. Mills' sophisticated original score incorporates themes from Gesualdo's sacred music to weave a complex and psychologically thrilling tale.
"If Gesualdo had not committed such shocking acts, we might not pay such close attention to his music. But if he had not written such shocking music we would not care so much about his deeds." - Alex Ross, The New Yorker
