Lizard Boy

June 1-July 1, 2023

Theatre Row, Theatre Three

Following a successful run at the 2022 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, Prospect’s NYC Premiere of Lizard Boy: A New Indie-Rock Musical follows Trevor, a lonesome outsider dubbed the “Lizard Boy of Point Defiance” after a strange encounter with a dragon turned his skin green and scaly. Ashamed of his appearance, he rarely leaves his home. However, when a powerful voice calls to him in a dream, he impulsively finds a date (on Grindr), launching an adventure with his new date, Cary, and Siren, another survivor of the dragon encounter, who insists the dragons will return. Sparks fly in this queer-indie-rock-action-romance that pulses with fierce conflict—and fiercer harmonies—on its heart-pounding journey of self-discovery.

Baked! The Musical
An incrEDIBLE New Musical

October 2, 2023

Loreto Theater at the Sheen Center for Thought & Culture

A return partnership between Prospect’s “IGNITE” Series (a concert initiative featuring new voices shaping tomorrow’s musical theater) and the National Asian Artist Project’s “Discover: New Musicals”, Baked! The Musical follows overachiever Jane Huang. After failing to get the scholarship at her dream college, she joins forces with the class degenerate to build the greatest cannabis edible empire ever run by high schoolers. However, Jane’s parents are kept in the dark, struggling to maintain a profit at their Chinese bakery while coping with their only daughter leaving home. Featuring an all Asian-American cast and a contemporary pop-rock score, Baked! reflects on self-worth and the question of what we owe the people we love, born out of the writers’ experiences growing up as the children of immigrants in the US.
